Love Letter to Conclusions
The end demands beginnings. For something to end, it should have had its beginning. It is therefore normal to mourn when an object meets its end. For me, for the life lived and for that who wasn’t, it should be imperative for us to reflect and arrive to a conclusion on the basis of that same thought. With this, I invite you to think back in the year, think about what went according to your plans and those who deviated to a certain extent from them. Instead of only learning from the latter, rather, embrace them. We learn that we should learn from our mistakes, which to a certain extent, I agree. However, in these reflections I vote for pondering instead of dismissal. Plans that didn’t go accordingly reveal something from ourselves. Didn’t go to a 9am? You should have gone to bed earlier instead of doomscrolling. Or maybe you were too sleepy and valued your sanity over a class with content that your mind was not ready to digest; you know yourself. Your phone died outside? Sure, next time be sure to bring a charger, but perhaps you can reflect and rather see the positive where you were attending the present rather than ignoring its existence. Instead of fearing the conclusion of an object and all of the emotions attached to it, I believe we should reflect and ponder on what it says about ourselves. It is here that we learn what we truly want and ambition for our life.
So, gentle reader, would you give it a go?
With love,
Matilde
